Cook County Health Professional Building, Chicago, IL

Cook County Health’s new Professional Building is a 282,000 square-foot ambulatory care center just west of downtown Chicago which replaced a number of outdated buildings on campus and saved the County millions of dollars in deferred maintenance. The building’s highly textured north facade and crisp, modern south facade serve to seamlessly blend the historic hospital with the burgeoning Illinois Medical District beyond.

Grand architectural gestures include a portion of the ground floor which “lifts off” the ground to receive visitors, as well as a concave south facade that calls out the building’s public spaces beyond.
